Only one table remained, right next to the biggest group, around ten people all wearing a uniform emblazoned with the council name and logo.
Self-conscious though she was, Kelly wandered over and sat down, pulling out her phone. As she'd left, Kelly had promised to text her mother when she'd arrived so proceeded to do so.
The drink was delivered by a young girl just as Kelly popped her phone back in her bag. "Thanks."
The girl smiled and started to back away as the most good looking man Kelly had ever seen headed in their direction.
"Hey Connor. Congratulations! It must be nice, now that it's official."
The man, he had to be in his late twenties grinned and Kelly couldn't control her involuntary reaction. The shiver of excitement catching her by surprise.
"Thanks Nina. Yeah, now I just hope I can live up to it."
His dark eyes shone in the fluorescent lighting overhead, reminding her of warm gooey chocolate. His hair appeared to be the darkest of silks, close cut so every inch of his face was clearly defined, from the high brow to the wickedly slashing cheek and jawline.
Her gaze travelled south, noting the well-defined lips, muscular shoulders and the fit of his white shirt and black dress pants meant she needed to stop herself before she began licking her lips.
When he grinned, the little bit of sense she scrabbled onto fled and her mouth sagged open.
He winked at her and passed on by and the heat of a vicious blush flared.
"Don't worry. We all reacted like that the first time he turned up here. You've only got a problem though if you're planning on staying in town."
The girl—Nina—words broke the spell and Kelly turned to look at her. "Oh. I'm here as the new teacher."
The girl grinned. "Oh that's awesome. You'll be swamped." With those words she retreated back behind the bar.
