The Blood Bride – Reviews
Crystal’s Many Reviews – Blog
Well I thought that human politics were bad enough, but I couldn’t imagine living in a world where I not only had to worry about that, but also vampire politics! That would be insane!!! Sadly, that is what Hope had to do throughout her life, being a human under the protection of the vampire Master seemed to be more trouble than it was worth. Especially when the Master turned out to be a complete HOTTIE!
While this book was really interesting, the twists and turns that come up throughout the book will keep you on your toes; ok not really your toes unless you’re reading standing up! But you get what I mean. The different characters are extremely well done as well.
Xavier’s character, like I said before is HAWT, but he is also a strong leader. You could tell that by the way that he interacts with the other vampires that are under his protection, as well as the humans. He puts the safety of everyone else above his own, even when things seem grim.
Hope was well written, she was also very confusing at first. Ok honestly, I am still sort of confused about her even now. You could tell the different emotions that she was going through throughout the whole book. When she was faced with her parents, or even when she was talking with Xavier.
My only real complaint about this book was the amount of vampire politics that were talked about. There were several sections that I had to read over a couple times to try to fully understand what was being talked about. Besides that though, overall I thought it was a really good read. If there is another book in the series, I will be sure to try to get a hold of it to read it myself!

The Blood Bride is the start to a new series and it should be an interesting series. With secrets all over the place it is amazing that anyone kept up with the truth. our hero is Xavier, a 400 year old master to a vampire nest, and out heroine is Hope who has just returned to the nest after getting her degree in school.
I found this story started out a bit confusing however it did get better as the story progresses. I would be easy to feel sorry for Hope but then she turns around and shows her backbone and why she is the heroine of the novel.
Old secrets thought long dead return, feelings thought impossible to allow happen and the result is an erotic paranormal romance that I was willing to stay up late to read. Ms. Nix does a good job at explaining the crowds and the background of the story and the characters.
We do have several hot scenes and they can be a little descriptive as well as being written so that passion shows through and not just sex for the sake of sex.

I had no idea going into this book that it being a nestling meant vampire, but I will admit I did enjoy this book. It started off with some great descriptions and then they all tried to sort out what happened, and it got a bit confusing to me. Honestly though, with the amount of secrets being kept, it might have been a bit confusing for the characters too.
It’s an interesting story with secrets abound and at the core it’s a rather unique erotic vampire story. I easily read it in one sitting and stayed up late to do so. While it was confusing, I think that can be attributed to Ms. Nix wanting to set up and explain all the different factions and rules of her world. There were several hot scenes that cements this as a decent erotic romance.
At the end of the day, it’s a good start to a new interesting twist on vampires, which has the potential to be something exceptional. It’s a good read and I think it’s worth picking up and trying.

Crazy Four Books
I enjoyed this vampire story. It was quick, hot, full of surprises and meant for adults only.
There was action, a huge secret, mean family members, a hot master vampire, romance, and plenty of sizzle too.
Hope struggles with the need to be free. She was raised to be part of a vampire nest and is just now coming home from college. There is a new master vampire that she hasn’t met yet.
Her parents are acting strange. They are being cruel and uncaring and she doesn’t know why. Hope also doesn’t understand the desire she feels towards Master Xavier. She’s been raised to know her place and under the Master isn’t it.
Their nest comes under attack and Hope soon comes to find out that she is the reason.
After this attack, other things come to light and they try to get ready for the next attack. Hope and Xavier become close and it seems that they may not have much time together.
I recommend The Blood Bride to those of you who like vamps, or are looking for a quick, hot, sizzling read.

A review by Cara Davidson
While I enjoyed Dillon and Cara’s story, what made this book for me was Diocail. I want to know more! Who is he? Cupid? What is he atoning for? What does he have to do to be allowed back home? Where is home? What was he meant to do for the waitress? Who are his parents? Sure, I might be able to find some of these things out by Googling his name, but I think I’ll wait and hope for the next book in the series!
But, back to Dillon and Cara….For reasons of full disclosure, I must admit I started reading this book already liking it, because the main character had my name. Shallow of me, perhaps, but I always get a kick out of that. Luckily, the book did not disappoint. As the blurb says, mix one awkward nerdy guy with one bbw, sit back, and watch the good times roll. While this book could have certainly been longer, with more background information or interactions between the main characters, the story itself was well told. Having knowledge that their attraction was genuine, and not a result of Diocails manipulation was another plus. The sex scenes were graphic, without being overdone. Of course, all thought of safe sex goes out the window- a personal pet peeve of mine.
My only other bone of contention with this book was Cara’s seemingly link of attraction with the boss and her work position. She plans on leaving the company if she can’t get Dillon’s attention. I get the sense that Cara wants a boss to fall in love with, not the chance to succeed or be successful at her workplace- but that could just be my interpretation.
I would definitely recommend this novella for a quick pleasing read.

Amazon – A review by Amanda
So, we have an anthology from 5 awesome authors. Let me tell you what I thought of this book.#1. I shall never, EVER look at a zucchini, or salmon, or chocolate the same way again. Or maybe this book will make me eat MORE ?#2. I really want to own a cake shop. You get to meet the most delicious, err interesting men there.#3. I want to meet a pleasure demon. Where would you find one of those do you think?
#4. If I ever found myself in a 19th century high class – um establishment where worshipping of the flesh is practiced, I must remember to act pure and chaste – but show some keen interest in what’s going on. That way I can capture the heart of the gorgeous Lord of the Manor. This is very important.
#5. If you ever want to know what a cross between Nigella Lawson and Heston Blumenthal would be like, but with less clothing, more food AND a very secret ingredient – then this book is for you.
I found this hugely entertaining. I loved how each story was based on food, and I found, even though they are short stories, I was able to easily get in to the relationships that developed between the characters.
You ladies have done a brilliant job.
Thank you so much for giving me an awesome Saturday afternoon of reading.

Some foods are the start of what is to come, others are seen as only to be used on each other and other food again are used to offer up sexual innuendos to get a conversation to the level needed to go to the next.Whatever the case food and sex goes together on a much deeper level than what the more conservative type of person may think. In the new bundle from authors Bianca Sarble, Kate Belle, Seanna Smythe, Imogene Nix and Alysha Ellis they bring us five of the best most delicious food related sex stories of the year, and each and every one has a special powerful hidden message of life, dreams, hope and love.In Flavour of the Month by Bianca Sarble the story of rich falling in love with the poor was told and how the differences of life can keep you apart from the one you love. The message was loud and clear, never let life hold you from the arms of the one you love. A really sexy and delightful bake me up a new life read. The Banquet by Kate Belle told of secret attractions and what lies hidden behind the doors of the chef industry. A very spicy the table has never looked better read ,with a message of all is never as it seems.
Never on a Sunday by Seanna Smythe is a story of how important communication is in any relationship, without it there will be a endless line of hurt, confusion guaranteed to lead to unhappiness. A really sexy, sensual and totally ice-creamlisious read.
A Chocolate Affair by Imogene Nix is a paranormal futuristic read, but in no way too different from the other reads. It told the story of just how hot things can get between boss and employee and the message of complications that can occur when secrets are uncovered. A extremely hot chocolate filled addiction read.
The last read My Lord’s table by Alysha Ellis was a historical related romance that told of just how easily one can be seduced into a world of sex and passion when influenced by a force stronger than any resistance you may try to push. A very historicly sexy memorable take me am your’s to eat read.
The bundle offered up contemporary romance, historical romance and paranormal all with the relation between food and sex. When I volunteered to participate in the book tour of “EDIBLE DELIGHTS ANTHOLOGY, VOL 2″, I was asked if I wanted a copy of the book to review. Once I took a look at the authors, I replied back with a very enthusiastic, “YES!!” So here’s the review in exchange for that review copy… so how about we now talk food stories??Bottom line is that for $4.99, about the same price as a bag of Dove Dark Chocolate, you’ll get FIVE stories — and they WON’T go to your hips! This is a perfect read for the carpool lane or soccer practice – check it out !!“EDIBLE DELIGHTS ANTHOLOGY, VOL 2″, is a 215 page anthology containing 5 stories – one from each of these “Secret Cravings” Australian authors: Bianca Sarble, Kate Belle, Seanna Smythe, Alysha Ellis and Imogene Nix. The stories are a great read for carpool lane – just short enough that you won’t have to put it down before driving. Since the Amazon listing gives the blurbs about each of the stories in the anthology, I’m just going to give you some brief notes:Bianca Sarble, FLAVOR OF THE MONTH. Contemporary Romance where the poor girl and rich boy fall in lust, then love, but are kept apart by her insecurities about their economic disparities. Really cute story & nice, HEA ending. (Food tie-in is that she is a baker.)
Kate Belle, THE BANQUET. Contemporary Romance. This was probably my least favorite of the five; it was a little too heavy on the relation to gastronomic delights and sex… and I had an “Ewwwww!” moment at the end. The sex was hot, though. If you can get past the chocolate filling, that is…
Seanna Smythe, NEVER ON A SUNDAE. Contemporary Romance. This was a cute story about mistaken twin actions, hurt feelings and two people in love that need to figure out how to communicate. Personally I was impressed by the author’s creativity in thought of how to utilize ice cream sundaes as a bachelor party item. Good thing there was no ice cream involved in the reading of this story, or it would have melted from the hot sex scenes!
Imogene Nix, A CHOCOLATE AFFAIR. This is a futuristic/paranormal story that’s actually really interesting how it blends aspects of demon lore and some fun technological advances of the future. It’s based in a chocolate factory and has the illicit boss/employee romance — with a HEA ending! Wondering if this story was as hot as the others? I have two words for you – PLEASURE DEMON. ‘Nuff said.
Alysha Ellis, MY LORD’S TABLE. First impression was one of surprise – basically because this is a “historical” setting, whereas the first three were contemporary. I’ve never been “into” the historical romances, but this story was “readable” and very hot! I could really believe in the characters and it has a really dramatic HEA .

What a heap of fun this book was! I’m not big on anthologies, but I love supporting Aussie writers and I’ve read books by two of these authors recently, Kate Belle (The Yearning) and Seanna Smythe (she by another name…), and I was keen to see what they would cook up with this one (pardon the pun).
These ladies sure know their food (and their food and wine pairings), and the heat in the kitchen matches the heat in the bedroom (or dining table, or milk bar, or shop counter)…
I think my favourite story ended up being ‘My Lord’s Table’ by Alysha Ellis – which would be a strange one for me to pick as I’m not much of one for anything remotely historical – but I found the heroine easy to like in this story.
It was a great collection: contemporary, the regency I mention, with a paranormal thrown in by Imogene Nix at the end.
Very, very delicious. Rather wicked. And more than a bit enticing.
Perfect late night reading and a real guilty pleasure.

Review by The Jeep Diva
This is a mesmerizing paranormal romance set in a fascinating world of vampires and witches. Celina – a witchling of immense power – must find her place in her new world of vampires. Struggling with his own demons, Javed is building a new nest – the first one in centuries. An ancient evil stirs, a prophecy comes to light and now Celina is in danger. Can their love possibly overcome every obstacle?
This fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge with lots of action, suspense, drama and romance. The author captures the imagination with well written and orchestrated scenes and battles. The vivid imagery and details ensures that the reader gets caught up in the story from the very beginning and the characters are strong, compelling and easily related to. Spine tingling anticipation builds throughout the story as Javed and Celina try to figure out the prophecy before it’s too late and the danger escalates as the ancient evil grows stronger.
The attraction between Javed and Celina explodes from the pages with radiant intensity and the sex scenes are hot, steamy and sizzling with passion. The relationship needs some work however, as Celina insecurity which comes from always having been alone keeps rearing up whenever she even thinks about being happy and of course she just learned that she’s with and must learn to use her powers. Javed has to deal with a building the new nest, keeping his people safe and even his attraction to Celina causes a few problems in the nest. The readers can certainly empathize and understand their plights which draw the reader deeper into the story.
I think the story would have better if it had been a little longer, but overall I really enjoyed the story and got totally caught up in it. I haven’t read the first one yet and while I had no problem catching on to what was going on, I really think I should have read it in order to get the full picture. But rest assured I will have read before the third one comes out as I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Revenge On Cupid
In attempt to read more Aussies this year, I picked up Nix’s Revenge on Cupid which is a fun paranormal story about Cupid but he isn’t what you know to be. The author has been influenced by the Celtic legends and creates a different cupid who is determined to find his mate and get back home. Our cupid has found happiness for others but now it is his turn to find his special person with the help of the god and goddess of home. However one has other ideas and it going to take some sweet talking for Jake to get his happy ever after he wants.
Jake aka Diocail has had the ultimate from his father if he wants to return home after helping others and changing his life around. Find his predestined mate, fall in love and tell the truth about himself. Sounds simple enough , only problem is the woman that he is intrigued by is in a long term relationship and Jake doesn’t think she is the one. Jake is a sweet guy but it seems that he wasn’t always like this and regrets it. So he wants to make sure everything is perfect for the woman of his dream but the past has a funny way of playing havoc on life.
The one in question is Simone who is suspicious of Nathan her boss and lover is having an affair and is in a mess. Everything is going wrong for her and she wonders if it is time to move on. Forced to accept the truth after a confrontation with Nathan that leaves her reeling feeling hurt and betrayed with no job. Her heart is in tatter pieces and her best friend’s wedding is only days away ,she picks up the pieces and close her heart off to love. Finding a new job is her priority and a chance encounter with Jake seems to set her plans aside as there is something with him that she can’t deny. Will these two get the happily ever after they both need , well you need to read this book for yourself.
Who knew that Cupid could be a character like Jake Jake Kincaid. He wasn’t what I was expecting when I read this book and I love discovering that . It seems almost like a contemporary story a first as it had all the makings classic romance story. A crazy ex , a beautiful girl and reformed hero throw in this story and the hero is gifted with skills that could only deemed as paranormal/fantasy .
I enjoyed my first read of Nix’s , I love how she made this Snax story believable to me as she took the time to tell the story instead of spreading the story over a few days. I love when authors do that and I love exploring and meeting some of the Celtic gods and goddess .
