Bewares: Ghosts, Death and Supernatural Themes
Nate moves to a new town after the death of his mother and meets a girl, Cora, who's family has been cursed by an evil wizard.
I was attracted to this title for it's supernatural themes and the fact that it has ghosts.
Fave Character: Josh
He was really funny and entertaining. I had a lot of fun with him. He's also always on time. He turns up within seconds of his name being mentioned and its a running joke that you can set your watch by him.
Worst Character: Nate's Dad.
He spends the entire book moping and being miserable, making him hard to connect to. He does have a redeeming quality and drops the misery thing around Josh's mother.
Best/Worst Scene: My favourite scene is early in the book when he is invited to the lake. Josh goes to pick up Nate, he shows up exactly on time and is the "stop watch" scene. Especially when he opens the door and yells, "I'm here!"
Summing Up: It was an enjoyable read, although the pacing threw me off with alternating between too slow and too fast. Some of the characters would have been easier to connect to, if I'd known more about them and they were a little more developed.
This is a first book in a series and I get a feeling that there is more coming in the later books and I'm invested in learning more about the characters growth and the bad guy.
I'll definitely be reading book 2.
