One of my daily tasks includes feeding and watering the chooks.
It's fun. They are incredibly restful with their low cluck-cluck-clucks and chook-chook-chooks. Watching them relaxes me.
Every morning I feed them. The routine is simple. I go to the shed, fill my bucket with the grain mix they prefer (yes, even chickens have feeding preferences!)
After I've put their feed on the ground, I go check the 4 nesting boxes.
With 14 hens and a rooster they have to be collected daily... otherwise chicks are the end result.
Now, usually in winter, as the chooks go into moult, there's normally no eggs to collect. This winter was mild so we've been collecting daily all the way through.

Every afternoon, during the watering session, the water bowls are topped up meaning I don't need to take water from our potable tanks, we rely on the bore to water them and the garden. (Actually the dogs don't mind the bore water either!)
I really do appreciate my life. I get to write, to have animals and fresh food on a daily basis. What could be wrong with that?
Feel free to tell me about one of your daily tasks! I love to hear from readers...
