The sum of $7500 will be used to "further the self publishing skills, bring workshops to a region that has limited access to professional writing workshops and to further the craft of authorship in the region," says Ms. Nix.
"When I started writing, which co-incidentally happened when we moved to the North Burnett, I didn't have access to face-to-face assistance. I would have benefitted greatly from that, but instead I had to turn to technology in order to find a body of authors who were able to support me through the initial teething pains. Instead of just receiving assistance, Suzi Love and I feel strongly that it's the 'giving back' to the writing community is the best way to thank those who supported us when we started."
Ms Nix has indicated that the list of times, dates and locations for the workshops will be released in the near future. "I'm just waiting on the finalisation of two venues before I can release the promotional brochures and sign up sheets to the relevant libraries."
Cost to participants has been kept minimal, with workshop attendance costing just $10.
