Writing Cues – 12 Dec 2021

In our final Writing Cues for 2021, today we’re looking at Authors setting goals for 2022.

I’m going to keep this short and sweet.

In 2022 what do you want to achieve? Let’s break it down to:

  1. How many words a month – or titles (depending on what works for you)
  2. Which books will you edit?
  3. Do you need covers/editors/formatting?
  4. How many books do you intend to release?
  5. Will you preorder?
  6. What categories will you use? Keywords?
  7. Do you have rights reverting, and if so, when?

On my office wall, I have 2 lists. One to do with releases. I’ll upload the file here, and you’re more than welcome to use it. If you share, however, please give credit.

The second is my key reversion dates. I list title (and series) Release date and Reversion dates. Make sure to note when/if you need to contact your publisher. That will all be contained in your contract.

(Again, I’ll upload a copy of my document in word file, so you can add to it as necessary)

Lastly, consider your blog, website etc., I use a downloadable form I bought through Etsy. It’s not tally perfect, but gives me enough latitude to add as I need to.

I purchased these through Etsy:
